My Philosophy

"The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans any more than black people were made for white, or women created for men." ― Alice Walker

I specialize in portrait photography, including pet portraits and family portraits. When I create a portrait, I value the collaborative process it entails. I take great joy in capturing the moments my subjects share. My ultimate goal as an artist is to tell your story through beautiful, compelling images. My portraiture work always includes the environment where the images are made and I shoot using natural light for intimate and dramatic images.

Services

I provide portrait sessions for individual clients and editorial photographic work in the city of Saint Louis and surrounding region. In addition to my portraiture work, I love photographing interior and exteriors, especially of vernacular Midwest architecture.

The equipment: For much of my freelance work, I shoot with my 35 mm EOS Canon 80D digital camera in a RAW format for the best editing options. Another staple in my practice is the use of film cameras. I shoot large format and medium format film, which provides a look unlike anything a digital camera can provide. (Please see my portfolios for examples)

Investment

One-hour photo shoots on location for pets begin at $125 with $50 payment at the time of booking. I will meet with clients to go over the goals of the shoot and rates before asking for a down payment. Shoots with film are priced separately. Please contact me to meet to discuss options.

Prints, Files, and Framing:  I print on a variety of papers - luster, matte, glossy - using archival inks. Prints are priced separately, à la carte. A pricing list will be provided upon the first meeting with a client. I also create prints in other formats, such as notecards and handmade books, which will be included in the à la carte pricing menu. Finally, I provide museum quality conservation framing of your prints at an additional cost. I can even help install these prints on a gallery wall in your home.
